Patrick Rothfuss wrote a masterpiece. My friend had lend it to me as her and introduced it as her favourite book, it did not disappoint. Well written, epic, tense, funny and a fantastic world around university, magic, adventure and love. Involving tragic moments, humour, suspense and surprises.
Entiendo por qué es popular: la prosa va buscando belleza. Pero medio vulgar, por eso lo llaman populus-vulgus. El protagonista es brillante, lo dicen su maestro y sus papás en conversación privada. Que el protagonista escucha escondido. Nosotros nos enteramos a través del protagonista, que le está narrando su vida a un cronista. De vez en cuando algo pasa con el cronista y con otros personajes de ese tiempo presente, y nos sospechamos que la historia que se quiere contar es a partir de ese tiempo presente. Pero no sería satisfactorio nomás partir del hombre hecho: hay que ir hasta su infancia y narrar cada episodio. Y cuesta entender por qué siendo un niño tan brillante se mete tan bobamente en problemas tan serios. ¿Será lo de las múltiples inteligencias? Muy a lo Harry Potter se la pasa al borde de la expulsión de la escuela, e insiste en que …

Lo que resulta incongruente con la mentalidad de un superviviente que se pasó tres años sin hogar, viviendo en las calles. Nunca se le hace con la chica y sus cortejos están bien insípidos.
Cuando ya había leido mil páginas el protagonista va y dice: y ahora sí ahí está la base para contarte mi historia. ¿DAFUQ? Casi lo abandoné ahí mismo. Pero bueh, ya nomás quedaban como 20 páginas. :-/ Justo a tiempo para abandonar la serie.
Total que: mejor lean a Lucius Shepard.
Onestamente non mi aspettavo molto dopo i primi capitoli, le premesse (che non spoilero) parevano un po' banali e scontate, in realtà la storia è un crescendo continuo, emozionante e commuovente a tratti. Ho trovato interessantissime anche le diserzioni dell'autore sul worldbuilding in chiusura del libro, cosa che non può che mettere in luce il lavoro di impalcatura che sta dietro alla storia, talmente ben fatto che non ti accorgi della sua esistenza finché qualcuno non te lo fa notare. Parto subito con il secondo, ben sapendo che purtroppo il terzo libro della trilogia è disperso da anni.
