Agatha Christie: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Paperback, 1975, Pocket Books)

The peaceful English village of King's Abbot was stunned. First the attractive widow Ferrars died from an overdose of veronal. Not twenty-four hours later, Roger Ackroyd--the man she had planned to marry--was murdered. It was a baffling complex case involving blackmail, suicide, and violent death, a case that taxed all Hercule Poirot's "little grey cells" before he reached one of the most startling conclusions of his fabled career. Very good!

I'll be honest, I was enjoying the first two Poirot novels, but the third book of shorts was less engaging for me, and I considered reading something else instead of this, but boy am I glad I didn't!
